buildings and
monuments - Still can be seen in the villa
the roman constructions remade in the XVIII century of aqueducts that took the
water to Tarragona, concretely to the call bridge of the Fermades, that crosses
the Torrent de Rupit.
It is important to point out the church built in 1343
and erected in Santa Magdalena's honour, whom in spite of the numerous
eventualities, can exhibiter an excellent baroque altarpiece of 1702 of
multi-chromed size, aside from the image of Sant Crist, work of F. Coscolla. If
we took a walk by the villa we can also find modernist buildings, consequence of
the XIX century industrialization.
In the outskirts it is necessary to highlight the
castle of Selmella, today in ruins, and the church of the place of primitive
Catalan gothic style, with a tower and a bulruf bell tower campanar, dedicated
to Sant Llorenç.
THE SANTA MAGDALENA'S ALTARPIECE - The
altarpiece dates from 1702 and is the only one amongst the other nine that is
conserved at the parish of the Pont during the XVIII century.
It is placed in the parrochial church of Santa
Magdalena, being a sample of the Catalan baroque style. Its state of
conservation is almost perfect and we shall emphasize the recent restoration
performance that has give the possibility of shining again in all its
multi-chromed splendour, which in its 300 years of history the smoke of the
candles and other elements had extinguished.
