It is located upon Alcover, close to the Serra de
Prades. It is formed over two different zones: the valley of the Glorieta river
and the valley of the Brugent river.
Mont-ral is at 888 metres on the sea level; this fact
gives to this village an extreme climate with different particularities the rest
of the region.
Between the XVIII at XIX centuries, the agricultural gave a strong stimulus to the different population nucleus of the term. The main
production were of cereals, vine, olive trees, almond trees and hazels. Other
productive activities were the mining of minerals from the calcareous stone, the
mills of the Brugent rive, ice and the electric power station of the Glorieta
river.
Mont-ral and Farena are the beginnings of many and
varied excursions. The fact of being inside of the Prades mountains makes the
environment a good place to realise hikings until red villa.
We should emphasize the large group of caves and
chasms, closed to the village, of a great potholed interest, that have been
formed because of the carstificació processes that affect the calcareous terrains. Amongst them, we shall find the Mont-ral Cave, the Cave of the
Monedas, the one of Motllats, the Cudó Cave or the one of Aixàviga, Avenc del
Roc de les Abelles and the one of Nova del Masiet.
This term also allows the hunting and the fishing
poach, where periodically repopulations are done.
