VILARDIDA - Ancient
village that belongs to Montferri and Vila-rodona's municipalities. The first
news were from 1009, when it was the domain of the Barcelona's bishops. The
Santa Maria's Chapel was built in the XVIII century. CAL TUDÓ, known as well as
Vilardida's tower or castle, was the house of the nobles of the village at the
XVIII century.
PUIGTINYÓS CASTLE - Located
on the Còdol precipice, belonged to the barons of Castellvell, but in 1233 went
over to Santes Creus and at the XIV century was bought by Arnau, a noble from
Figuerola. On the XV century it was sold to Guillermina of Bembell until when by
inheritance passed through to the Rocamora family, and then to the Pagès
family. It is the building where the restaurant of the village is placed.
MONTSERRAT'S SANCTUARY - This
sanctuary is a work of the modernist architect J.M. Jujol. It was started to be
built in 1926, he left it without finishing it. The town council took up again
the works of the Sanctuary, the 16th July 1990. The building was located on the
mountain range, next to the village, and it is visible from different places of
the region. This work was thought starting from the natural forms looking from
landscape references. The rounded forms reproduce the Montserrat mountains.
