The medieval village was built over the ruins of an ancient roman villa. The
village is surrounded by worked lands, specially with dry land cultivations.
The farming activity has always been the economic source of the village. Many
centuries ago they farmed vine, almond trees, olive trees and locust trees.
Nowadays the industrial sector is also getting strength
in Alió, with the setting up of different businesses and with the construction
of the industrial estate. Alió-Bràfim, with 141.000 m2 of
industrial ground.
The ancient nucleus of Alió is located near the
church. The oldest streets are plain and bright, with a simple construction
following the traditional architecture. The entrance halls and the
irregularities that border this nucleus suggest us an ancient structure of a
medieval village.
The XVIII century was a period of growth in most of the
area villages, as it is reflected in the construction of houses and churches.
The vast production of wine in the region incites to
the creation of many liquor factories.
